Rhode Island Flooding | The Full Story
The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, more commonly reffered to as Rhode Island is now experiencing of the worst floods in more than a century. Rhode Island has created a unique coalition of agencies working together to find a solution for this "Major Disaster".Some parts of the state are being evacuated as a lot of building and roads remain flooded, and a lot of efforts are put into helping the coastal communities from the hazardous impacts of climate change and flooding.
Torrential rain is causing Blackstone and Pawtuxet rivers to run over banks. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warranty advisory for the two rivers. The service is predicting six to ten inches of rain in storm total rainfall across Rhode Island, calling the flooding "very dangerous and potentially life threatening".
Coalition agencies are working together to find a solution for this major problem, RI FACCT which is also known as Rhode Island Flood Awarness and Climate Change Taskforce is composed of the following agencies: Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, Rhode Island Building Code Commission, Coastal Resources Management Council, Rhode Island Sea Grant, University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Center, has recently put out it's first document (RI FACCT Sheet #1), Rebuilding After a Storm, Permitting Procedures for Repair and Rebuilding after a Storm: Coastal & Residential Structures.
Luckily enough, no deaths or injuries have been reported yet.
